Hendrik Meijer (1744-1793). Pen and watercolor depicting a pastoral landscape (signed and dated 1773 lower left). Dimensions on view 37.3 x 48.3 cm. Traces of humidity and small losses, glass with defects. Hendrik Meijer was born in Amsterdam in 1744 (Abraham Jacob Van Der Aa gives his date of birth as 1737). He was a member of the Stadstekenacademie in Amsterdam until 1768. He left for London in 1775 where he died in 1793.
