"Bag And Beads, Papua New Guinea. Oceania "
This lovely little bag is made from a braid of pandanus leaves. It contains a piece of bamboo and a set of five glass beads in the shape of seeds.The latter, originating from China, circulated over a large part of the northern coast of Papua New Guinea where they were used as adornment or currency.
An old collector's label is attached to the handles. It indicates the location "WADE", in the northern province, or Oro province, where our object seems to come from.
