"Large Provencal Mirror With Glazing Beads In Gilded Carved Wood, Louis XVI Period, Late 18th Century"
Large Provencal mirror in carved and gilded wood from the 18th century. This is a very richly crafted Louis XV-Louis XVI Transition style model. Pareclose model, wood carving in staples, garlands of flowers and acanthus leaves. The upper part of the mirror has an unusual decoration of garlands of laurel leaves descending on the glass. Prominent pediment in cartouche of acanthus leaves and flower basket. Original mercury glass. This mirror is presented to you in its found condition, some lack of carved wood, cracks and slight lack of gilding in places, mercury glass very badly altered on the central glass, but that is all that makes it charming and interesting. The large dimensions of this mirror make it a very decorative piece.
