Pair Of Small Cassolettes/flower Vases Mounted As Candelabras With Lilies And Rams, 19th Century

Artist: Dans Le Goût De Pierre Gouthière
A superb pair of candelabra in marble and gilt bronze.
On a tripod base of gilt bronze with goat's feet entwined with acanthus leaves, three ram's heads and garlands of flowers support a covered bowl of gray Turquin marble encircled by beaded friezes.
From this, a floral bouquet of leaves and lilies rises, forming six arms of light for each candelabra.
These are large and highly decorative objects in the style of the mounted pieces created by Pierre Gouthière in the 18th century.
Our examples were designed during the reign of Napoleon III, around 1860.
The gilding on the bronze is original and very bright; it has been cleaned and revealed beneath thick layers of gold varnish that must have been applied at the beginning of the 20th century (a few minute traces of gold varnish remain in the recesses).
One of the marble lids was broken and repaired at some point in the past (this is only visible upon close inspection).
These are rare pieces on the market, featuring exceptionally precise bronze chasing and the use of the very rare Turquin grey marble.
Delivery in a wooden crate on a pallet: €100 within France, €300 within the EU, and €1000 for the rest of the world.
