Glass cameo or intaglio depicting a female profile. Athena is shown here wearing a helmet with animals, a plume, the head of the Gorgon Medusa around her neck and an element in her hand. Compare, noting also the differences, with the so-called Aspasios gem from the Rondini collection (second half of the 1st century BC, Rome) in the Museo Nazionale Romano in Rome (Italy). This type of piece was created in large numbers because it was highly prized as a souvenir by travelers on the Grand Tour, and several of them were often collected to form collections. -
