Hamilton Watch Co. was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and began its production of pocket watches that have immediately enjoyed a good reputation, Until it attracted the attention of the first American railway company for which Hamilton produced Broadway Limited.
During the First World War, Hamilton became the official supplier of the US Army.
Between 1920 and 1930, the Maison endeavoured to produce art deco watches, anticipating the times and fashions, with cutting-edge materials, still marking the history of watchmaking.
During the Second World War, Hamilton no longer marketed its products, since production was almost exclusively destined to the armed forces, being again official supplier of the American army.
After the war years, some models of watches were produced in institutional variants for the main American airlines of which Hamilton became official supplier: TWA, United Airlines, Eastern, Northwest Airlines.
In 1971, Hamilton was acquired by SSIH (Swiss Watch Industry Association) and since 1983 it is part of the Swatch group based in Bienne, Switzerland.
