Samaritaine At The Well, Oil On Panel First Half Of The 17th Century On Original Frame

Oil on panel representing a scene from the Gospel according to John, in which Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. This work of a certain artistic interest is probably attributable, for its scenographic staging and the characterization of the characters to the Roman spirit of the beginning of the 17th century, even if it is possible to find, in the productions of this scene, iconographic proximity to the Bolognese school. 
The painting is of a fine quality, both in the rendering of the proportions and in the scenic construction where the figures in the foreground stand out in front of Jacob's well in the center, while a large classical column in ruins appears just behind. The landscape that opens on the horizon leads to a distant city with flavors of fairy tales.
The frame on which the panel is mounted is in red lacquer and is original and contemporary with the painting.
