Visit For Tourneau In Cashmere Of The Indies Espoliné - France Circa 1880-1890

Circa 1880/1890 France Rich visit or evening mantelet made from an Indian shawl in espoliné Cashmere and dating from the Third Republic. French fashion houses had made a specialty of reusing these long shawls from the Second Empire when they went out of fashion! Mantelet with integrated and elbowed sleeves in a pagoda shape entirely bordered with polychrome silk thread trimmings recalling the colors of the shawl. The original Indian shawl dates from the Second Empire and forms superimposed interlacings of palmettes with very strong polychromy. This visit closes in front with a concealed tab with red satin buttons. Lining in burgundy silk satin with integrated red silk waist belt to accentuate the curve of the turn. Two holes in the lining, only defect to report. Good general condition of color and conservation. The skirt in the photos is not part of this sale. Dimensions: Equivalent to size 36-38 France. height 100 cm, shoulders 38 cm, chest 90 cm, waist 85 cm, sleeves 58 cm, coat circumference at the bottom 160 cm.
