Alabaster Clock "the Abduction Of Europa" - 19th Century
Alabaster clock representing a mythological subject: "The abduction of Europa" by Zeus transformed into a bull. Europa, dressed in an antique tunic, partially reveals her chest. She sits on the back of the animal decorated with garlands of flowers and holds in her hand a drape that flies in the air. The sculpted group rests independently on a rectangular base where a gilded bronze dial with Roman numerals is inserted. The dial is signed "Verdière à Paris". Dimensions: 55 cm (height) x 14 cm (width) x 32 cm (front). Height of the base: 25 cm
