Large Tintype "portrait Of Woman" Circa 1880
Large and rare Ferrotype Portrait of a woman with earrings Size 17.5 x 24.5 cm The ferrotype is also called tintype or melainotype. This old photographic process consists of sensitizing a sheet metal plate by applying a varnish and a collodion emulsion. The image obtained after taking the picture and developing it is a negative. It appears in positive thanks to its dark support. The ferrotype is a unique print. Invented around 1852 by Adolphe-Alexandre MARTIN, this process was patented in the United States, where it was very successful between 1860 and 1890. It then replaced the daguerreotype and the ambrotype because of its more affordable cost, its simplicity and its speed of execution. https://www.lavalisearlesienne.com/product-page/grand-ferrotype-portrait-de-femme
