Crucifixion Napoleon III
The omnipresence of the influence of the Catholic Church in the 19th century was preponderant… All Christians decorated the walls of their bedrooms with a pious image, a Christ adorned with a blessed boxwood branch or a medallion under curved glass. Here the scene is rare, we see the entourage of Jesus in tears but also the Roman soldier who, according to tradition, shortened the agony of the tortured man by planting his lance in his heart. According to legend, this soldier has a name: Longinus. Everything is original, the curved glass and the blackened wooden frame.
