Horace Richebe : "spring In Sanary"
Horace Richebé (1871-1957): “Spring in Sanary”, oil on cardboard 28 X 50 cm, mounted in a damaged 19th century gilded frame 36 X 57 cm. Located and dated 1921 on the back, signature stamp at the bottom right. Le Bénézit tells us that he specialized in bouquets of flowers and Provençal landscapes that he rendered “with passion and lightness”. I couldn’t say it better! The swirling, very post-impressionist touch and the delicate palette with acidulous accents render this spring landscape wonderfully.
