Alphonse Lalauze is the son of the engraver Adolphe Lalauze (1838-1906). He was a student of the painter Édouard Detaille and specialized in military subjects, then became a painter for the Army. Alphonse Lalauze participated in the exhibitions of the Salon des artistes français, of which he became a member. He received an honorable mention in 1899 and a 3rd class medal in 1900. The same year, he also received an honorable mention at the Universal Exhibition.
