Mesopotamian civilization, 1st-3rd century AD, rare and superb agate cylinder seal with very elaborate incised decoration representing four soldiers holding their weapons, surrounded by symbolic signs, with a pretty geometric pattern above and below. Work of great meticulousness giving this object a very precious character. Good condition of conservation except for tiny old scales at the top and base. Length: 5.6 cm. The scale witness on the last photograph is a small model of a lighter of a well-known brand.
Provenance: private collection of an aesthete specializing in ancient civilizations.
