Actor, director, writer, Jean Marais retired to the Alpes-Maritimes in the 1970s, first to Cabris where he spent about fifteen years (a boulevard in the town near the house where he lived bears his name) then to Vallauris where he practiced pottery, sculpture and theater. He opened a store there and even an art gallery thanks to a couple of potter friends.
