Burmese Bronze Buddha, Mandalay Period.

Old bronze image of the historical Buddha, Burma (Myanmar), Mandalay period, circa 1880. Shakyamuni's gaze is realistic, the eyes are made with cowries (black-spotted shells), which accentuate the expression of his benevolent and meditative gaze. On the headband that underlines his ushnisha, we can still see vestiges of glass beads. This exclusive and authentic piece comes from the estate of the merchant and collector Claude de Marteau. It is sold with a certificate of provenance. A small lack, due to a period accident: The tip of his monastic robe, on the right, just above the base. H 43 cm x W 34 cm x D 23 cm
