Archaic bronze vase on pedestal from the Western Zhou dynasty (1100-771 BC) Exterior walls decorated with friezes of Taotie masks in relief incised. Below, an inscription is engraved in the bronze On the pedestal, a frieze of incised relief adorns the exterior wall above a bulge. On each side symmetrically a Taotie mask in applique holds a ring. Very beautiful green, blue and red patina, forming thick calcified crusts in places. The condition of the bronze was stabilized by a chemical treatment at the end of the excavation so as to prevent it from deteriorating in contact with air.
