Summer Vest In Embroidered Wool Muslin, Directoire Period - France Circa 1800
Circa 1795-1800 France Charming summer vest in cream twill wool muslin embroidered with wild flowers dating from the Directoire period. Square vest with high collar and two double-sided embroidered folded panels. Two applied flaps of real pockets with 8 buttons covered in the same. Louis XVI type naturalistic floral decoration, embroidered with silk floss in a range of soft green, purple, green, pink, yellow and blue. Original back in fine cream cotton canvas and ecru cotton lining. Some micro dirt, discreet halos under the arms and small losses to the embroidery revealing the stencil design. Good general condition despite some defects. Dimensions: Equivalent to size 36 France. Height 56 cm, shoulders 39 cm, collar height 6 cm, chest 85 cm, waist 81 cm, bottom circumference of the vest 86 cm.
