Okimono - Monkey Disguised As A Sambaso Dancer - Porcelain - Late 19th Century

Porcelain okimono representing a monkey disguised as a sambaso dancer.
It has all the attributes: the eboshi headdress, the fan, and the bell instrument (kagura suzu).
The head is mobile, creating humorous expressions.
The okimono comes from the Hirado kilns, of which it has the underglaze blue decoration and the characteristic brown enamel.

Japan, second half of the 19th century.
