RARE clock called "au Nègre".
"ATALA picking fruits". In patinated and gilded bronze.
Representation after the famous novel by Chateaubriand: this Christian heroine picks fruits in a basket.
Early 19th century, this model, probably made during the Restoration, takes up the figures of the famous Empire clocks called "au Negre" by Deverberie, of which we recognize the same representation of Atala delivering Chactas with an identical woven basket.
Height: 36 cm.
Base: 24 cm x 10 cm.
IN VERY GOOD OVERALL CONDITION and beautiful original gilding.
Without pendulum, key or hands: as in the photos.
