"Silver Snuff Box Fable De La Fontaine"
Luxurious silver box from the late 17th century - early 18th century. Scalloped shape, lid fitted with a push button and opening with a hinge, good fit, very satisfactory closure. Slightly domed lid engraved with a decoration indicating a fable by La Fontaine: "The crow and the fox". On the back an eagle in a baroque decoration worn in the center, perhaps another animal now erased for the fable of the "eagle and the magpie"?... Hallmarks said to the general farmers: a crowned fleur-de-lys, hallmark of the master goldsmith with the crowned initials LD and a third: perhaps the letter L under the crown. Scattered micro-scratches on the exterior, but which remain discreet, slight traces of oxidation on the interior. Letters and numbers engraved on the front: ID and I 4 II? Weight: 112 grams. Note: a beautiful model from this period. Price nonnegotiable. Delivery: €15 for mainland France.
