Architectural Wooden Sculpture Original Green-turquoise Paint India 18th Century
Architectural portal sculpture made of solid teak with original green-turquoise coloring, India, last third of the 18th century.
As the name suggests, the object originates from an architectural element, probably a door, an entrance portal and has a monumental character.
The expressive carving of a curved, ribbed central section, scales and floral eldements wrap around this central section. The traces of ageing on the wood and the paint finish create a striking impression.
The object has a very decorative character and appears lively and
strong.
The formerly installed back is natural teak wood and slightly flatter in the carving heights and depths.
The object is firmly mounted on a black iron stand (14x14x0.7cm)
