Saint Clare - Oil On Copper - 17th Century
Charming French school, this Oil on copper representing Saint Clare in her Franciscan robe and carrying a monstrance, which monstrance is the traditional attribute of our Holy Woman. Saint Clare also called Clare of Assisi, 1194 - 1253 in Assisi was from a noble family of the nobility.
She is the founder of the Order of the Poor.
Copper dimensions of 16.6 cm by 13 cm. Dimensions of the set: 23 cm by 20 cm.
Frame in wood and later gilded stucco, 19th century decorated with shells, foliage and flowers.
