Bohemian Enamelled And Gilt Crystal Scent Bottle For The Ottoman Market, XIXe Siècle.

A Bohemian crystal perfume bottle, moulded and cut, with a cylindrical body and slender neck, topped with its original multi-lobed leaf-shaped stopper; featuring cut decoration of diamond-point motifs and flat ribs, and richly hand-painted with polychrome enamels and gilded highlights depicting foliage, scrolls, blue cabochons and small floral bouquets.
Bohemian (for the Eastern/Ottoman and Persian markets). Late 19th – early 20th century.

In the 19th century and the early 20th century, Bohemian glassworks exported their creations extensively to the East, particularly to the Ottoman Empire and Qajar Persia. These cut crystal bottles, characterised by exuberant enamelled decoration combining gold, blue and floral motifs, were perfectly suited to the refined aesthetic of tableware and toiletries at Eastern courts.
