Painter born in Aix en Provence, Louis Leydet was very early supported by Paul Cézanne who noticed the quality of his painting very early on. In 1902, in a letter to Charles Camoin he wrote: "I received news from Claude Monet and the card from Louis Leydet, son of the Senator of Aix. The latter is of the same ideas as you and me. You see although an era of Art Nouveau is brewing. Bibliography: Franck Baille, In Aix, around Cézanne, p.64, 1998.
