In carved wood in the round, standing with his hands crossed, his head delicately tilted to the right, Jean is distressed.
The “beloved disciple” is here at the foot of the cross and his affliction is equal to his pain. Barefoot as the apostles often are, he is dressed in green clothes and wears a red cloak. Two colors frequently used to represent it.
