The Frame measures 119 CM x 92 CM The Canvas measures 99 CM x 73 CM Pandolfo RESCHI was born in DANZIG, currently GDANSK, in 1643 and died in FLORENCE In 1699. Having left for Rome when he was young, he became one of Giacomo Borgognone's most skilful students. He painted battles and imitated the landscapes of Salvator Rosa. He also excelled in perspective and architectural views. Arriving in Florence in the mid-1660s, he continued his figure studies with Livio Mehus, Antonio Giusti and Pier Dandini1. In 1670 he was hired by the Medici court and became a protégé of Cardinal Francesco Maria de' Medici, with whom he lived from 1680 until the end of his days. His paintings were highly appreciated by the great families of the Tuscan nobility, in particular the Corsini. He worked for the Uffizi Gallery under the Florentine scholar and architect Giacinto Marmi.
