Object description :

"Bronze Sculpture Representing Saint-tropez "
Hadrien David (1981) “Saint-Tropez” Sculptor born in London, Hadrien David was introduced to sculpture as a teenager by his father José-Maria David, considered one of the masters of the new animal school. After attending the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he perfected his skills and continued his training in Vienna, Austria. A vocational modeler, Hadrien David became known for the creation of bronzes depicting moving animals. His sculpture reflects a desire to energize form and transmit positive energy through matter. Bronze representing Saint-Tropez standing, as on the pediment of the village church. As a reminder, it was in the year 68 AD that Torpes, Nero's steward, was martyred and beheaded in Pisa on the latter's orders, for not having wanted to abjure his recent Christian faith. His body was then delivered to the waves with a rooster and a dog, in a boat. Carried by the current, it would then have washed up on the shores of the gulf. We can read, on its shield, the motto of the city of Saint-Tropez: "Ad Usque Fidelis" which means "to the end faithfully" Number 1/8 in the world. Signature and stamp of the founder on the back.
