Vaseline glass, tinted with uranium oxide which gives it this characteristic yellow-green hue and a spectacular green fluorescence under UV light, enjoyed tremendous popularity in the 19th century. The great crystal manufacturers such as Baccarat and Saint-Louis made extensive use of it to create precious receptacles and dressing-table sets of rare refinement, combining the complexity of crystal cutting with the visual magic of the material.
Our set of three vaseline flacons, part of the fine tradition of 19th-century toilette objects, testifies to the know-how of master glassmakers, combining the elegance of geometric cutting with the singular properties of uranium glass.
