Coming from the imperial workshop of the Shah of Master Dabir at the end of the 19th century, this museum piece offers unrivaled quality. Technical characteristics: Made with silk velvet on silk foundations, including silk warps, weft and fringes, it demonstrates a refined and precious technique. Decor: This rug presents a poetic decor evoking the Earthly Paradise, inspired by Persian miniatures of the 16th and 17th centuries under the Safavid dynasty and Shah Abbas the First. The ivory field is decorated with a stylized oil lamp surrounded by polychrome flowers, multiple richly flowered trees of life, original rabbits, birds hanging and feeding their chicks in symmetry. Borders: Seven borders, including the main one in purple color, are dotted with cartouches inlaid with multi-colored stylized lions, rabbits and birds, surrounded by stylized flowers and foliage, adding to the decorative richness of this work of art.
