Zygmunt Sokolowski (1859-1888): “Barges on the Seine”, watercolor 23 Signed and dated 77. This Polish artist, who died at barely 29 years old, spent a good part of his career in Paris where he was an exhibitor at the Salon. Here he gives us a watercolor vividly brushed in short strokes, suggesting rather than showing where, seen from a quay, Notre-Dame dominates the Seine and its barges.
