Very beautiful watercolor, superbly done, representing the Battle of Saint Privat, Battle of Gravelotte for the Germans and St Privat for the French. Which took place on August 18, 1870 west of Metz which paved the way for the capitulation and surrender of Napoleon III from the French army on September 2 at Sedan. Here scene of soldiers fighting, very well represented by the watercolor painter who remains to be defined, probably with a great hand given the technique and the final rendering.
