"Bedside Stoup In Polychrome Glazed Earthenware From Ligron Pottery - 18th Century"
Very beautiful bedside font with backsplash decorated with a polychrome glazed earthenware crucifixion and stylized religious figures, dense decoration, brown and yellow tone. This rare font comes from the LIGRON potteries (Sarthe), a very active pottery center in Sarthe from the 14th century until 1900, when the last pottery in Belouze closed. Ligron potters have developed distinct styles and motifs often inspired by local history, the surrounding nature or regional craft traditions. Beyond shaped pieces, Ligron has sometimes created particularly creative innovations.
