"Large Church Lectern – Germany 17th Century"
Our desk is made of carved wood, painted in imitation of gold and patinated. It features a beautiful eagle with outstretched wings and claws firmly placed on an orb. Our imposing raptor is supported by a baluster resting on a tripod base. The eagle symbolically represents John the Evangelist, whose writings most clearly bear witness to the Light and divinity of Christ. A German work from the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century.Height of 181 cm by 62 cm wide A piece appraised by Mr. Stéphane Pépe.
Used condition – missing paint and various small shocks.
