Engraving depicting "the knight, from the dance of death". Work printed by Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) after a work by Hans Holbein (1497-1553) and Abraham van Diepenbeeck (1596-1675). We see a man armed with a sword fighting with death and his spear. In the background, a castle and an army, led by a skeleton who plays a drum. At the feet of the protagonists, dead bodies, one of which has an hourglass on his chest. In the title block, a quotation from the Gospel of Luke: Cum fortis armatus custodit atrium suum etc., si autem fortior eo superueniens vicerit eum vniuersa eius arma. Printed in 1651. 7x5.5cm
