Traditional glass paste beads produced in the mountain region by the Krobo people of Ghana, Africa. The Krobo people are among the oldest bead manufacturers (along with Niger, Nigeria, and ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and Mesopotamians). These beads and colors are indicators of the social status of the person wearing them. From recycled glass reduced to powder in a mortar, then colored, it is placed in small dry clay molds to be put in the oven. After cooking, the pearls are polished by hand with sand and water. 160 two-tone glass beads mounted in a necklace on nylon thread. Ghana. Current of the 20th century.
