"Brittany - The Banks Of The Aven At Roz-bras - Around 1870 - Attributed To Claude Anastasi (1820-1889)"
A student of Corot, Anastasi entered the School of Fine Arts in 1839, and began exhibiting at the salon 5 years later. A landscaper, he began by representing the surroundings of Paris and Normandy, before undertaking several trips, to Holland and Naples in particular. Our work is located on the back “Roz-bras”. A small port on the Aven, this place was dear to several painters of the second half of the 19th century.Berthe Morisot notably placed her easel there. Anastasi stayed in Brittany and in particular in Pont-Aven where several of his works are located. To live Anastasi is also a lithographer and collaborates with several magazines for which he interprets the works of Rosa Bonheur, Camille Corot and Theodore Rousseau. His works are kept at the Louvre Museum, the Condé Museum in Chantilly, and the fine arts museums of Nantes, Reims and Quimper in particular.
Many of his works remain anonymous; a wax seal was affixed to the reverse.
