Italian Walnut Drop-leaf Dining Table Or Desk, Circa 1940.
Elegant walnut drop-leaf table, Italian work from the mid-20th century, circa 1940–1950.
The top is composed of four bookmatched walnut panels, creating a particularly decorative and graphic grain pattern. The wood displays beautiful natural variations and a lively figured grain that highlights the quality of the walnut used.
The table stands on four slender sabre-shaped legs, elegant and slightly curved, connected by a gently shaped apron veneered in figured walnut. The overall proportions are well balanced, giving the piece a light and refined silhouette typical of certain Italian productions of this period.
Thanks to its two drop leaves, the table offers several configurations: closed, it can be used as a console or small table; opened on one or both sides, it becomes a dining table comfortably seating 6 to 8 people. This versatility makes it both functional and decorative.
The recently stripped surface enhances the beauty of the walnut grain and gives the piece a very current aesthetic, making it easy to integrate into both classic and contemporary interiors.
