Albert-paul Guilmet (1853-1924) Portrait Of A Man, Charcoal Drawing Signed
Artist: Albert-paul Guilmet (1853-1924)
Albert-Paul Guilmet (1853-1924)
Portrait of a man,
signed upper left
charcoal on paper
26.5 x 33,8 cm
Framed : 43.5 x 52 cm
This drawing is particularly striking for its bold choice of pose. The model is portrayed in an almost cinematic movement from bottom to top, which is also what gives it its strength and energy. The artist's technical talent is also undeniable.
I chose to frame this beautiful drawing with particular care to show it off to its best advantage.
Albert-Paul Guilmet was born in Château-du-Loir in 1853 and died in Calais in 1924. A painter and etcher, he studied under Léon Bonnat, Jean-Paul Laurens and Henri Chapu, and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1878. He taught at the school of decorative arts in Calais and later served as curator of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Calais.
