Cameo On Pink Agate, Napoleon III Gold Setting
Cameo on pink agate representing a young woman with a Greek profile looking to the left. She is dressed in a tunic embellished with pearls and her hair is expertly braided and tied into a bun. This hard stone is set in a gold setting. A pin on the lapel allows this cameo to be worn as a brooch. If the art of cutting fine stone has existed since Antiquity, in the 19th century we witnessed a revival of the art of cameos.
