"Trim: War And Peace, Gilt And Patinated Bronze"
Also called "War and Peace", this clock, in gilded and patinated bronze, is a model by François Vion (model present in Versailles). Two putti surround the movement; one wearing helmet, spear and shield symbolizing the attributes of war; the other, Cupid's bow and arrows symbolizing love. The movement is surmounted by two doves of peace resting on a cloud. The base rests on four lion paw feet connected together by a drape. Enamelled dial, strike at the hours and half hours, pendulum movement in perfect working order. Two candelabras accompany it, two small fauns support the two fires. Very good quality of patina, gilding and carving. dimensions: height: 25.5cm width: 20cm depth: 10cm candelabra: H: 20cm L: 20cm Period: mid 19th century.
