Old Malayer carpet, Iran, Persia, in hand-knotted wool under the Kadjar dynasty.
Old Malayer carpet circa 1900/1920 with a respective size of 103 cm x 192 cm in length, in very good velvet condition, normal wear on the edges, very solid carpet.
Our model presents a fairly rare decoration for this type of carpet and its Persian origin.
The colors, dark red, putty, straw yellow, accompanied by a hint of forest green, black and wine red, as well as the pale apricot color which dominates. The beautifully drawn border is made up of realistic flowers, and stars or stylized kotchak flowers.
These rugs are knotted in strong, thick, shiny thread, always dyed with natural dyes for old pieces and of course hand-spun.
This yarn gives a durable surface and a beautiful color palette.
What they have in common (the Hamadan) is that they are now woven with cotton warp threads and a weft thread between each row of knots.
The patterns are often geometric, but there are also very elaborate floral patterns.
## Newer rugs, post-1980, are often made of synthetic colors and lower quality wool than older rugs.
Generally speaking, we can say that Malayer rugs are very good rugs for everyday use and a few wonders like our model ennoble these pieces.
The family of Hamadan carpets includes types of carpets, such as: Bortchalou, Enjilas, Hosseinabad, Lilihan, Khamse, Zanjan and the Malayer, model that we present.
These carpets are also sometimes sold under the general name of hamadan, carpets which cover many villages.
# Carpet knotted under the Kadjar dynasty or Kadjars (Qājār, Qadjar, Qajar, Persian: قاجار)
Turkmen dynasty which reigned over Iran from 1786 to 1925.
This quality piece has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
