Representation of a medallion in the center of the tray and the basin, sumptuously decorated by hand with a brush for work of great finesse of the entrance to the palace of Ali Qapu in Isfahan, the gate of Ali, from the 17th century, overlooking the Meidân, the main square of Isfahan, not far from its splendid royal mosque which dates back to 1611 in a half of roses on a black background and foliage, birds, in relief around the plateau and the basin.## The palace dates from the beginning of the 17th century. Its main pavilion has two levels: the ground floor is occupied by a monumental porch followed by a vestibule while the upper floor is a portico with 18 wooden columns decorated with muqarna capitals which support an inlaid ceiling. The large covered balcony thus formed served as a royal platform during the events which took place on the square. According to legend, Shah Abbas I took the doors of Imam Ali's tomb in Karbala and installed them in this palace, now named Ali Qapu, the gate of Ali.
