“sablettes Beach In Toulon” Nicolas Safronoff

Nicolas SAFRONOFF was born in 1898 in Ekaterinoslaw (Dnieper). Migrating to France, he settled in Lyon where he obtained French nationality. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne de Lyon from 1919 to 1946. Known mainly for his views of Lyon, he painted this painting of Sablettes beach in 1909. In the foreground, numerous bathers are active in the water and on the sand, in the distance we can see the “Two Brothers”, the name given to these two rocks which emerge from the sea.
