"L. Courtin (active 19th Century), Preaching Saint Mark's Basilica, Venice, Watercolor, Carnavalet Museum"
Very beautiful watercolor by Louis COURTIN (born in Strasbourg and active in the 19th century), representing a preaching in the Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice, watercolor signed COURTIN and dated 1837. This beautiful watercolor can be compared to a work by J. COURTIN older which represents an interior view of the same church and which is at the Carnavalet Museum. The perspective is very successful, the colors fresh and the whole very successful. Has a beautiful 19th century gilded frame.
