Handicraft Table Made Of Black And Gold Beijing Lacquer. 19th Century.

The desktop is in black and gold Beijing lacquer, finely inlaid on all sides with palace scenes animated by pagodas, flowers, landscapes and Chinese characters. He rests on the base of a lyre, with claws of gilded wood. Fully inlaid interior showing many compartments containing finely carved ivory sewing tools such as spools, boxes. The table rests on four lion`s paws, connected by a spacer, a crossbar, with inverted balusters. There is also a small, drawer with a fabric pocket for work in progress. England, second half of the 19th century.
