"Barbedienne Pair Bronze Girandoles "
Spectacular pair of bronze candlesticks with 6 lights, baluster decoration on circular molded base, the arms supported by consoles in the shape of swan necks, open mouth. One of the girandoles is signed on the base F.BARBEDIENNE. Height: 71 cm diameter: 46.5 cm cm. Beautiful patina, some small holes due to an old electrical assembly, also allowing a new adaptation in case of destination as a lamp base. Ferdinand Barbedienne born August 6, 1810 in Saint-Martin-de-Fresnay and died March 21, 1892 in Paris, renowned for its artistic bronze foundry. He has published and produced the works of numerous sculptors, including among others Antoine-Louis Barye, Pierre-Jules Mène, Carrier Belleuse, many of the works released from his workshops appear in the collections of the greatest museums. He also produced remarkable decorative objects, one of the most memorable of which was the monumental neo-renaissance clock which earned him a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1878, today kept at the Paris City Hall. .
