Paolo Crepax, Incalmo Boule Vase, Murano Glass Signed
Artist: Paolo Crepax
The vase is made of two separate parts joined together in a techinique known as *incalmo*. The glass is in a wonderful ight amethyst colour. Paolo is famous for his ability with the incalmo technique. This technique is based on joining two cups on the edge rim and making a perfect joint so that it can be blown as an unique piece. Famous incalmo pieces are the Tapio Wirkkala bolle for Venini or the similar ones made by Barbini. The limit of the incalmo is that the perfect fusion of the two cups requires to piece to be perfectly round of the same diameter, after the joint the result piece is too cold to allow more working. The flap in the middle comes from merging a closed vase with an open bowl and by itself that is already unique.
