Elegant Antique Necklace Of Polychrome Glass Beads With Gold Aventurine
A charming antique necklace composed of round and elongated olive-shaped glass beads, executed in a rich palette of colours ranging from red to green, blue and purple. Each bead contains beautiful sparkling inclusions of gold aventurine, lending the glass a luminous appearance and remarkable depth.
The beads measure approximately 10 to 30 mm and are separated by pairs of small transparent glass beads in a deep burgundy tone. The combination of varied shapes, vivid colours and shimmering golden inclusions creates a highly decorative composition in which each bead retains its individual character.
The necklace has no clasp, as its generous length allows it to be slipped easily over the head without the need for an opening mechanism.
All beads are intact. As is characteristic of individually handmade glass beads, slight variations in shape and minor irregularities may be present. These are inherent to the artisanal manufacturing process and contribute to the unique character of each bead.
Technique: lampworked glass
The beads were produced using the traditional lampworking technique. Solid glass rods, either transparent or coloured, are gradually heated in the flame until the glass reaches the required degree of softness and malleability. The artisan then works the material by hand, rotating, stretching and shaping the molten glass with precision until the desired form is achieved.
Once shaped, each bead is annealed in a kiln in order to stabilise the glass. After cooling, it is removed from the mandrel and may receive any final finishing touches.
A particularly appealing example of handcrafted glasswork, distinguished by its rich polychrome palette, luminous gold aventurine inclusions and the individual character imparted by the traditional artisanal technique.
