Perfume Bottle From The “special Flowers” Series By Timothy Harris For Isle Of Wight Studio Glass
Timothy Harris for Isle of Wight Studio Glass
Rare perfume bottle from the “Special Flowers” series
A hand-blown glass perfume bottle, conical and bulbous in shape, resting on a slightly flattened base, with a tapered neck fitted with a spherical stopper made of clear glass. The design, embedded within the thickness of the glass, consists of large stylized flowers with yellow, white, and smoky brown petals, enhanced with glittering gold and silver inclusions. The design, created through successive layers, gives the piece a remarkable luminous depth, like a garden suspended within the glass.
This bottle belongs to the rare experimental “Special Flowers” series, designed by Timothy Harris for Isle of Wight Studio Glass and produced between 1993 and 1995. Until now, specialized literature had listed only fourteen known pieces in this series, including twelve vases and only two perfume bottles; this example, signed on the reverse, would thus enrich the known corpus and could be the third identified perfume bottle, bringing the total number of pieces in the series to fifteen.
